Bio:

Simon is a multi-disciplinary audiovisual alchemist from BC, Canada, driven by a mission to produce art that awakens our connection to nature and spirituality. His creative journey stems from deep analog roots in drawing, painting and various musical instruments. Graduating from Vancouver Film School in 2007 led to a fusion of digital design, motion graphics and music production. Emerging as an influential catalyst in the modern Visionary Art movement, Simon’s globally recognized work has captivated audiences across galleries, festival stages, conventions and live concert environments. He creates immersive experiences that thin the veil between physical reality and metaphysical realms. Simon is currently pushing the boundaries of creative technology in his ongoing audiovisual concert and film series, Metta Grove Experience, a spellbinding synthesis of his animated art with dynamic soundscapes.

Artist Statement:

"I'm curious about our psychic connection to nature and the unity of all life.  In my devotion to the creative process, I strive to find ways of producing art that inspires harmony between the Earth and its shared inhabitants.  I feel that our collective need and appreciation for nature unite us all. Each creation reflects an aspect of my life journey."

My Process:

I’ve been making art since I was a child, always curious about what tools I could explore. My foundations were forged in traditional mediums like pencil, charcoal, watercolor, oil and acrylic paint, while dipping my toes into the digital realms as early as 1995. Currently, I mainly use digital painting tools such as an interactive screen with a stylus and various digital painting software.
You can see some time-lapse creation videos here.

For animating my artworks, I use a combination of tools, primarily the motion graphics tool Adobe After Effects.
You can see some of my animations here.

With music, I started with guitar in 1993, then learned various other instruments, (bass guitar, drums, cello, keyboard and more).  This expanded in later years, around 2008, to include computer programs and digital instruments.
Some of my music is listed here.

As of 2024, I've started exploring various AI tools in my creative process.
Currently, almost all computer software available for creating (music, visuals, design, writing) now has AI tools incorporated, and they are evolving rapidly. These tools are both magic and mayhem, a mix of promise and peril. We’re in an era where near-infinite creative potential sits beside necessary caution. Ultimately, whichever tools are used, I believe that intention guides creation.
